
ActivitiesIn Winter, Ski and Ride! Four ski
areas surround the southern and eastern slopes of Mt. Hood. Each area has its distinctive
advantages and personalities. Millions of skiers explore the variety from gentle and
scenic to steep and deep terrain. All of the ski areas offer chair access and snowboard
parks with professionally maintained half pipes.
Mt. Hood SkiBowl
Right across the street from the Mt. Hood Inn. SkiBowl is America's largest night
ski area, with 34 lighted runs, trails and open bowls. The new Olympic certified Reynolds
run offers 1,500' vertical drop. Ski 65 day runs served by 4 chairs and 5 surface tows.
960 Skiable acres including 300+ acres of outback bowls offer the most expert runs in
Oregon.
Timberline Ski
Area
Five and a half miles from the Mt. Hood Inn. Surrounded by over a thousand acres
of supremely skiable slopes encompassing every type of alpine terrain imaginable. With
snow covering its highest peaks well into the summer months, Timberline Ski Area boasts
the longest ski season in North America with six chairlifts.
Mt. Hood Meadows
Twelve miles from the Mt. Hood Inn. Meadows is the largest ski area on Mt. Hood,
featuring 10 chairlifts including 3 high-speed detachable quadruple chairlifts and over
2100 acres of scenic skiing. The Mt. Hood Inn is the newest and closest lodging facility
to Mt. Hood Meadows.
Summit Ski Area
One mile from the Mt. Hood Inn and located at the east end of Government Camp.
This was one of the earliest developed ski areas on the mountain. Excellent for beginners
and also offers a tubing hill and rentals.
Nordic Skiing
Mt. Hood has an abundance of snowpark areas which allow easy walking access to
many miles of backcountry touring. Two locations, Trillium and Teacup lakes are set for
track skiing. All of the ski areas offer different levels of touring facilities and
lessons.
Frozen Waterfall Hikes
Many of the mountain's waterfalls are only a quick ski trip or short walk away.
Spring, Summer and Fall
Summer Skiing
Skiing continues on Mt. Hood until after Labor Day. The Palmer Express lift at
Timberline Ski Area opens exciting terrain for skiing all summer long on a perpetual
snowfield, making Mt. Hood the Spring/Summer ski capital of North America and the summer
training ground for the U.S. Ski Team.
Ski Racing & Snowboard Camps
The The Mt. Hood Inn is the home base for four outstanding camps.
Both Erich Sailer Ski Racing Camps and
Olin/LaCasse Ski Racing Camp
provide intense sessions for serious junior racers. We provide lodging for Master racers and adult
snowboarders for the Mt. Hood Summer Ski Camps,
directed by Mike Annett, and the Romark Academy Masters
Race Camp.
Mountaineering
Mt. Hood Inn is the second most climbed mountain in the world over 10,000 ft.
With four major routes and many variations, climbers of all ability levels can enjoy the
challenge of Oregon's highest peak. The Mt. Hood Inn is host for clients of Timberline Mountain Guides and Art of Adventures providing guides and instruction.
